Gramat rain day

The forecast had it right: it rained on and off all day so we cancelled the ride to Rocamadour. Instead we dallied over breakfast chatting with our host Marc, caught up writing the blog, explored the town (which didn't take long) admiring the artfully laid out shop windows, ate a huge lunch at a local restaurant and read our books. We might have stayed another day but we had already booked in Vayrac and the clincher was when Marc had said we were his last guests of the season and that he was leaving tomorrow for a week's holiday.

Météo Bleu is calling for sunny skies tomorrow so we plotted a route to Vayrac along country roads and through three of "les plus beaux villages de France".

A rainy day is good excuse to go window shopping and Gramat has many character shops.

Inside was a range of wines from 200€ a bottle to a cask with fill your own container for 1.25€ per litre. Too bad we are on bicycles!

City Hall, or la mairie, has a charming garden

Anticipating a Saturday morning market we were surprised to find it was an antique car show. A classic Citroen and a British Morgan behind.

The French love certain things American, including old cars, Elvis and les hamburgers.
