In Galatina: the Basilica

Well I could pack everything into one post for the day, but it feels better organized to split off the first few minutes into its own entry.  I’d been hoping for a chance to get back inside the basilica for a better look at its frescoed interior this morning, and events transpire in my favor.  By chance, the route I’d mapped a few days ago for today’s ride bumped us across several blocks of pavers in the old city and directly in front of the basilica, so I didn’t need to talk Rocky into detouring past it on the off chance that it would be open.

And it is open!  And it’s magnificent, one of the best sites of the tour.  Here’s an article to give some background on this amazing place.

I’ve zoomed in on the rightmost panel of the vault to show more detail, and split it into the two photos that follow.

Keith AdamsIt almost makes me wonder whether there's anyone mentioned in Scripture that *isn't* represented somewhere in there. WOW.
