What's it all about?
816km down Portugal
Those of you have been following me over the last few years will know that I've done lots of loaded cycle touring, camping along the way and carrying all my stuff in panniers or bike packing bags. Unfortunately, health has overcome this capability and I'm now into doing longer distances with the support of a van and team, staying in hotels.
In 2023 I did a fantastic ride from the UK to Barcelona with a group of Parkinson's cyclists. I was unable to join them in 2024 when they went to Norway, but delighted to be able to rejoin for a ride in 2025 the full length of Portugal from north to south. The meticulously planned route shows 816 km, at approximately 82km per day, with the support of a van driven by our mechanic/driver/feeder/soigneur Steve Wesson.
Some facts about the team: We are 24 people on tour, 21 cyclists and 3 support. 15 of the cyclists have Parkinson´s, up from 13 last year, and 9 at Bike2Barcelona in 2023. Nationality in the group is 4 from Canada, 3 from USA, 8 from UK and 9 from Norway
