Lift Off

We had an amazingly easy departure. Trish and Robert who are house sitting came with a delicious meal on Wednesday night. Thursday was a glorious sunny day, after a lot of fussing and reweighing of the luggage we put on all our heavier clothes, put the heavier things in our hand luggage and were off to the airport very early. Check in proved to be a non event, it took less than five minutes and their scales weighed a lot lighter than ours.

The flight from Auckland to Brisbane is a very easy one, only a bit over three hours and on an A380 very comfortable. Australian biosecurity like that in New Zealand is very strict and we had expected as had happened every other time to have to have the bike boxes opened and the bikes inspected. It was our lucky day the officer asked us whether they were mountain bikes and if we had cleaned them. I assured him they were perfectly clean and anyway we didn't intend opening the boxes in Oz. He just waved us to the exit and there were Jane and Charlotte to meet us and a happy few days of family time was about to begin

Goodbye to winter
