Being a tourist in Warsaw: This is more exhausting than cycling

We shifted to the Ibis on Wednesday and since then we have spent our time exploring and coming to grips with this really extrordinary city. Tomorrow we will be back on our bikes for a short ride to an airport hotel and the preparation for our long journey home.

During the uprising this church which we visited on Wednesday was used as a hospital - it was bombed or shelled by the Germans with patients and staff inside. Very many were killed. It was impossible to get the bodies out of the crypt where many were so a new marble floor has been built over it and you are asked to pray for them. This church has 4 services a day on regular days and 8 on Sundays - they are well attended

Outside the church are panels that tell the harrowing story

Trams are all over Warsaw. We got day passes and one day got horribly lost on the system in a way that reminded me of that Old Simon and Gafunkle song

A very poor photo inside the art museum in the castle, it shows small children being taken around the museum and read stories. It is a small collection but has two magnificent Rembrants, one in particular I loved - The Girl in the Oicture Frame

Poland was the first country in the world after Britain to have a scouting movement. It seems to be very strong as we have seen several groups of them
