Day 33: Rest Day (waiting out storms)

2nd rainy rest day in Branson. The temperature was 50F all day. It rained pretty much nonstop.

I washed all my clothes at the motel's laundry facility.

I booked a flight from Dallas/Fort Worth to Eugene on October 25. That should allow 3 days after the tour to visit my parents in Fort Worth.

Overall it was a very boring day. It was so relentlessly cold and rainy that I didn't explore the town at all. I've got severe cabin fever.

The pictures below were taken the following morning when it wasn't raining as heavily.

Downtown Branson hasn't changed much since the theater district developed uphill to the west.

Branson Landing is a very upscale hotel and retail development with something no other Branson development has: a pedestrian plaza. A public amphitheater plaza overlooking computer-controlled fountains and Lake Taneycomo. Much more attractive and appealing than the strip mall architecture of the rest of Branson.

Main plaza at Branson Landing. The only pedestrian space in Branson.

A mile south of Branson landing is downtown Hollister. Also close to the shore of Lake Taneycomo. The contrived Olde English theme gives it a separate identity from Branson.

Downtown Hollister has an English half-timbered theme.
