Another fabulous day in Italy! Last night we had a great wine tasting at the first certified winery in Italy. It was established in 1092!

Today we split up. I rode with 3 others and Brody went big and solo.

For me, https://ridewithgps.com/routes..., the main 7.8 mile climb (1942’) was long and steady. I’m definitely feeling the last several days of climbing but just stopped as needed and enjoyed the ever beautiful views. There was a castle with a tower at the top. Again, this was a ridge with a deep canyon and you could see forests galore and some cliffs. The best was seeing all the white peaks beyond which were just jaw dropping and I wished they photographed better. I saw another jack rabbit and a bright green gecko but I was not fast enough for photos.
Per Brody
I decided to go north towards Canelli since we hadn’t been that way yet. I started with an 800 ft climb with stunning views of the Alps at the top and a wonderful descent into town. From there I pedaled up to 2K elevation where unobstructed views of the Alps dominated every switchback up. The route I made took me back down to SP24 and the route joined the original route (to some extent) that was designed by the route leader. Vista overload again and again. I was nearly taken out by a bounding deer on the first of two big descents but was able to capture a photo of the young buck crossing back across the road again. The final road down to Cortemilia was very welcomed, I was out of water and running on fumes. Amazing day of climbing rewarded by the best views of the trip so far.
