Piedmont Day 3 - Saluzzo to Crissolo
Colletta di Paesana
What an adventurous day! Heavy rain was expected at 1 so we got an early start and climbed our way up to Crissolo. Pressure was on so no stops for cappuccinos and sweets sadly.
Route to Colette di Paesano (route) was part of Stage 18 of the 2011 Tour de France on July 22nd. Colette di Paesano translates to Village Pass. It shows as a Cat 2 climb. The view was disappointing after all the work as it was socked in. We did get glimpses of snow capped mountains which was amazing as we had just seen palm trees. The downhill was fabulous.
We hit the rain about 10 miles from our hotel and it was the biggest raindrops we’d ever seen (painful!) and thunder and lightening about 1 second apart. I had to pour water from my shoes when we arrived. Still, an amazing day.
