Day 10: Donnybrook rest day
I was very glad to be in the hostel as it poured with rain but less thrilled when a fire alarm went off briefly at 2am. Luckily it stopped soon after and was not actually a fire.
It was still raining when we got up and braved a walk across the railway line to the first cafe of the day. The morning was spent in op shops and cafes. I did get a fetching mining shirt to replace my mountain warehouse shirt from London which has now almost ripped entirely up the back. Even Joe, who wears clothes to their absolute limits, said I should bin my old shirt.
Maggie and Sam picked up their parcels from the post office to resupply their dried food stocks without incident.
After a small book reading session, we did some bike maintenance and some more snacking. It fined up enough for a walk along the river at twilight.
Some of the backpackers were cooking up an absolute storm but our group nachos went down pretty well.
We’ve decided to change the route up a bit, to get to Albany a day earlier so I can get my bike serviced before the Nullarbor.
