Pros

Old towns in Salzburg, Vienna, Melk, and others are stunning.

The Alm, mountain huts, pastures, hills make a fascinating landscape

The Dachstein, high mountains with glacier

The Passau to Vienna part of the Donau – the best and easiest cycling section.

Campgrounds have everything, including usually internet, restaurants, and indoor space.

Pastries, especially tortes, are unique and excellent. In Vienna, the Sacher, Demel, and Gestetner shops are landmarks.

Some of the best cups of coffee were found in Austria.

Good bike routes along the Inn, Enns, and Salzach rivers, and well marked.

People friendly and very helpful.

Music, conservation of Mozart, Strauss heritage is a priority.

Polite drivers respect cyclists.

Most bakeries also offer sandwiches.
