A few people asked me how they can “Follow” this journal. In order to use the “Follow” function, you need to register. The most sensitive information collected is your email address. The best part about “Follow” is you will receive an email when I post. That way you don’t have to remember the link. To register, click on the “hamburger” icon (the one with the three horizontal lines), and fill in the info. That’s it! I appreciate your interest.
There’s really not much to say about this leg of the trip except it was not unlike riding through subdivisions on the eastside of Lake Washington. There were a few trails, but for the most part, I found myself not enjoying the ride—not a good omen. When it wasn’t subdivisions the scenery was heavily weighted toward lodging and restaurants. This part of the coast is very built up and attracts many, many visitors.
During my ride down the Pacific Coast last year, I noticed many roadside memorials. I wanted to create an entry about them, but never did. Because there wasn’t a lot to look at today (besides the things you normally find in suburbia), I found things (including memorials) that leaned creative and absorbed some of that energy.
I did stop in Nanaimo to purchase the famed Nanaimo Bar. Ummmm. They should be the de facto bicyclists snack. When I finally arrived to my campground, I didn’t have much energy to type out a journal entry. When it’s cool in the evening, sitting down at a picnic table before or after dinner to type, doesn’t have a strong attraction. I think it may happen again in the future, so please don’t expect something every day. 😉
