The Yough Ness Monster

It rained overnight but the trail was fine when we got started. There was a little delay to our departure because one of our party wanted to try to finish off some Moose Tracks ice cream.

Suddenly the Yough Ness monster lunged out at us.

No idea how he got here from Scotland.

We enjoyed the variety of scenery along the trail. Often times it was a tree tunnel, but sometimes it opened up.

An artist along the trail focuses on mosaic art. Here she has done her work on the side of part of the ruins of Banning mine.

This art may be on the property of a glass plant in Connellsville.

We stopped at an overlook over the Yough river. We spied a bald eagle perched on a tree down in the canyon. For my children, no, this is not one of my wishful or perhaps imaginary bald eagle sightings.

Any direction you point your camera in this area you get a beautiful picture.

It is a distance of 17 miles from Connellsville to Ohio Pyle. We were feeling pretty good about our pace, until we encountered a runner who passed us every time we stopped. We think he did the run only one way, I hope he wasn’t going to return the same distance.
