Newcomb, NY to Old Forge, NY:

Scenery the entire day!

We thought we were losing weight on this tour, but while sitting on this chair outside the Adirondack Museum we felt like we were also getting shorter.

We met Peter, an Australian who is now an American citizen living in Dayton, OHHe recently retired and is bicycling to Nova Scotia. He's a little worried about the challenge mentioning he worries about getting chest pains if he goes up steep hills. He fears he may have to push the bike. I don't think he has hit any extreme climbs yet (going west to east) so we hope he is careful.

Our lunch time at Blue Mountain Lake. Better view than when on lunch duty at school.

Today was the first day in a while that we did not ride in the rain. The owner of Christy's Motel (a very nice motel by the way) said the town had so much hail earlier in the day the ground looked snow covered. He let us store the tandem and trailer in a room that is being renovated so it is not crammed in with us. We learned the tourist season does not start for another 3 weeks because the black flies are so bad through the end of june. So far we had only the 1 bad day when Rhona was bitten but we are careful to remain in motion when away from towns. Tomorrow we drop in elevation and leave the Adirondacks so the black flies will be a bad memory and about twenty lumps. During a climb today Rhona mentioned although she enjoys the bicycle riding most days, she is tired of living in tiny motel room, partly because our stuff lies cluttered around. She realized that I like living in the clutter. Isn't it interesting how you can gain new insight into your spouse even after 38 years.

The view is pretty good here.
