Pride Day in New Hope

I slept in after partying hardy the night before but was out and about by 11:00 AM and walked downtown to catch the festivities! I understood the parade would start at 11:00, which was about when I left the lodge. It was a 20-minute walk to Main Street, so I thought I would get there at about the time it reached this side of the river (it was starting across the river in Lambertville). Well, about an hour later, it arrived! Still lots of fun! Pictures and some captions!

It was sorta fun watching the local police set up the road closing and directing traffic. Clearly, they do not do this often. In Washington, I am "spoiled" since it is such a common experience with so many "important" people in town.

The opening units of the parade cross the Delaware River. Very dramatic.

And making the turn down Main Street.

Philadelphia Freedom Band, the first of three bands in the parade.

This is maybe too close a shot, but this seemed to be a "boat" full of people dressed in Revolutionary-era costumes. Not sure the relevance other than they looked to be having fun.

A motorcycle contingent (pretty stock element for a Pride Day parade).

A contingent of very young people having a good time.

The arrival of the Big Apple Corps, the most impressive marching band in the parade. They were truly decked out and well-rehearsed.

And the last float . . .
