At Cavalaire sur Mer

Le weekend inactif.

Cavalaire proves to be a pleasant weekend stopover with washing, walking, swimming and sleeping being our main activities. There’s still quite a large presence of holiday makers here, but it’s noticeable that many places are closed already.

Mildly intrigued by this local store called ‘Blacks’ which seems to be very much trading on All Blacks symbolism and name.

This morning we take a walk up the hill for views of the bay and the St Tropez peninsula over which we will cross to continue along the coast. The greenery of the landscape and the blue of the sea were clear in the sunlight, returned after a magnificent belt of thunder and rain overnight.

Prickly pear - deep scarlet in colour and enticing looking, but beware!

This afternoon we swim in the sea off one of the beaches we can walk to. The water is clear and quite warm and though swimmers are few, sun worshipers are many.

Tomorrow we’re off to Frejus- about 45 gentle kilometres, if the advice is to be believed.
