Day 8 of week 3 on TEMBR

Day 8 of week 3 on TEMBR:

13500 pies camping site a Achufallas 10755 pies after a few "rolling hills of 12500+ pies" 45 miles.

Probably because of the altitude and a clear sky, we woke up to layers of ice/snow covering our bikes and tents. So it took sometime before we could hit the road as I waited for sun to dry some of my gear.

Beautiful ride, some views reminded me of scenery from Switzerland or Alps. Then we rode through some small comunidads one of which had a "communal tienda".

Colors the local indigenous folks add to the landscape

Wonderful personal interactions including one wherem y riding buddies got a marriage proposal and Kichwa lessons. This was by this group of "road"-side works collecting wood. These folks offered us some pan, gaseosa and life lessons.

This guy offered us some gaseosa, pan and more..:-)

Today went on and on beyond Totoras. We kept hearing some rumbling or blasts but didn't pay much attention until later in the night we discovered that Volcan Sangay was active. After a lot of "Plano" ride which involved more suvida-bajada and a beautiful sunset, I finally rolled into Achupallas at around 730-8pm.

Today's ride: 45 miles (72 km)
Total: 1,452 miles (2,337 km)
