A weekend in Brisbane

At the beginning of our tour Ken and I always take the opportunity to have a few days with our Brisbane family. At this time of the year Brisbane is beautiful. It is the dry season and there are day after day of cloudless blue skies and temperatures in the mid twenties. This is perfect winter weather - I certainly prefer it to the summer with its wild storms and temperatures in the mid to high thirties

As usual time with the Walas always involves many sporting events and this was no exception. Friday started with Grandparents day at the boy's school. This of course was a special treat as living in a different country we can seldom enjoy these opportunities- Matthew did a splendid job showing off the wonderful facilities of their school with great pride.

The sports started on Saturday with two games of netball for Charlotte her school game then her club game. It is amazing how the game has developed since they were tiny girls hardly able to throw the ball up to the hoop. As 16year olds they have a lot of skill and the game is great to watch.

Sunday was devoted to soccer. First a game for Matthew then just before our transport arrived on for Jacob. At 17 he is playing in a men's team and enjoying the challenge. Naturally Chewy their lovely Labradoodle enjoyed the sport as well

Now we sit waiting to board our flight and in 24hous and 30minutes we will be touching down at Charles de Gaulle airport to start the next stage of our adventure
