Pie Town - Grants

A fav of bikers, but too close to Pie Town for us to stop

After our good breakfast, and toting our takeout lunch, we rode lovely roads toward Grants.

Almost rode over this guy, but he twitched, so I took his photo instead

With the wild variations in road conditions we have experienced so far, we weren't sure how long the 51km to the highway would take. We were aiming for a campsite about 30km before Grants, but a huge tailwkind and a largely downhill track for the finial 60km made us committ to the push into Grants. The final 10 was into the wind so a bit of a grind to finish.

Delightful scenery all the way! Colourful cliffs on the right and a huge lava flow on the left.

We checked into the Lavaflow Hostel for 2 nights to take our first zero day and resupply for the next desert crossing of about 155km to Cuba
