Falls CG - Grand Teton National Park
Leaving the CG, I saw a moose, and Karo saw its calf. At last, some wildlife!
We followed the route up past Brooks Lake, where we both wished the 2 CGs were marked on the app, as they were beautiful.
The road to Togwotee Pass was a little rough, with some puddles from snow melt. I managed to fall over in a muddy puddle after a very quick slide through mud. It was annoying to be lying under the bike, still clipped in, feeling the water soaking my butt.
The downhill on pavement to Togwotee town was long enough to transfer the mud from the front tyre to me.
A right turn in Togwotee put us onto the "old highway" and some more lovely downhill on double track - a gem of a route we would not have discovered on our own.
We stopped for lunch at 6 Heart Ranch. I fell off in the car park because my clips were jammed with mud, and things went a bit grumpy from there.
We were given menus, but almost everything we tried to order was not available. I ordered a Ceasar Salad minus croutons, and ended up with a plate of iceberg lettuce with some processed ham, and a "side" of cheese. US$18, and they expect a tip??
The restorative power of lettuce got us to Grand Teton National Park entrance at Moran. Karo wisely suggested we buy an annual park pass as we hoped to go to Yellowstone and Glacier NPs.

Our destination for the night was the American Climbers Assn Hostel, about 30km from Moran. We wanted to be tourists in this park, and the Jackson Spur alternate to the GDMBR gave us a track. (This should explain our loop away from the main route, if you are watching my tracker)

We checked in for 2 nights as at this point, we hadn't really decided what we were doing to see Yellowstone. We did plan to go to Jackson for supplies and perhaps call that a rest day.
We had arrived at the end of volunteers week when supporters of the hostel come in each year to clean, paint, repair and prep the site for the season. They then stick around for hiking, climbing, skiing (skin up the glacier, ski down, hike out) and general outdoors play. What an awesome group of people, and they made us feel part of the group because of being on our own adventure. We even had our personal Trail Angel cook dinner for us!
Today's ride: 101 km (63 miles)
Total: 2,748 km (1,707 miles)
