Elkhorn Hotsprings - Wise River
The breakfast included in our room rate was not quite enough to fill our hungry cycling legs, so we begged a second round of scrambled eggs and sausages and left the table ready for the ride to Wise River and our next meal.
After a 7k climb, our ride was all downhill, passing many state forest campsites and through mature stands of lodgepole pines. Beautiful!
We stopped to chat to 5 sobo touring GDMBR riders and got intel on Wise River. We all agreed that the TD riders we are seeing now are either happy because they've switched to touring, or struggling with the ride they are still trying to race.
Wise River Club provided a hearty lunch and after 45 minutes on the phone, I managed to get my train seat confirmed for Jasper - Vancouver on 19 July. We also identified a bike shop in Helena that has our tires in stock.
By mid afternoon we were chilling in the community centre, and planning our next day's through to Helena.
We were joined in the hall by 5 TD riders, who all turned in early.
