Several short climbs got us some great views and then a roll into Geronimo Guest Ranch, where they had set up benchs and a table for bikers:

We sat here with 4 Brit students we had met half of at Lake Roberts, and discussed the joys of the trail and next planned stops. Annie, Imogen, Seb and Joe are uni mates and this ride was Seb's idea.

Karo and I climbed out of Wall Lake (another Lake not really there) and pushed on. This was more slow bike pushing between patches of shade but managing the intensity seemed to be getting easier for me.

This was a lovely section through sparse grazing land, over nice butt friendly road and with interesting rock formations.

Then we turned West, into the 25k westerly, for 20 km!

Karo had scouted ahead at Elk Springs, begged some water to make dinner and set up camp in the trees. I almost rode past.

Again it was almost dark and I was completely fried. Getting the cooker out to cook water was too hard, so I was ready to opt for cheese. Fortunately Karo took over, pitched my tent and made my dinner.

Another tough day. 78 km, 1221m ascent, and an improving average crawl speed  of 7 kmph.

Today's ride: 78 km (48 miles)
Total: 412 km (256 miles)
