Throwing Darts at the Map - and Winning Big!: Day 73 - Miltenberg to Seligenstadt
The best part about eating Cracker Jack as a kid was finding the prize inside. That was today when we got to Seligenstadt!
We decided on a short day today as we don't need to be in Mainz until Friday. Checking over the maps, and a few cursory Google searches, the dart landed on Seligenstadt. Since it was only about 60 km away we did the sensible thing, slept in and dawdled about in the morning and eventually hit the trail sometime after 10.
The silver lining in this was that it was warming up and starting to clear. Once again we had beautiful fall riding along great bike paths reaching Aschaffenburg, a smallish city, right around lunch time. A good pannini and salad combo on an outside table, the requisite cake and coffee and we were ready for the final strenuous push to Seligenstadt!
What a cracker jack prize! It is a beautiful medieval town, and our hotel (older and a showing it a bit, but still very good) was right in the middle of it!
Lot's of time to wander around and check out the town, have our post ride bevy, and scope out where to have dinner. All of this fell into place like clockwork. A pretty relaxing way to start the wind down of the trip.
