Rest Day in Kalocso

Mary Ellen continues to struggle with a chest cold and after touring the Paprika Museum, we decided to stay another night here in Kalosca.
In Hungary, paprika has a very interesting history. Originating from South America, Hungary's paprika production began during the Turkish period. Since the early part of the 20th century, Kalosca has become Hungary's "paprika capital" with the surrounding 32 communities becoming the world's largest paprika growing area.
It will be good to have an early night. Hopefully tomorrow the rain will have passed and it will be drier as well. As we are heading on to Croatia, we took advantage of having some time away from riding to change some of our Florints to Croatian currency as well.

Stayed at the newly opened Pension Alexandre and Bakery in Kalocsa.
