A second day in Bruges

We rode to the North Sea

Morning Run:

A nice run up the East side of Bruges along the outer canal. This was mostly on a hard packed gravel trail and great to run on.

One of a few windmills. I went up the stairs for a view and the next photo.

I then cut West through town to return.  This was a mistake as it is all cobblestone and no streets are straight.  I had to make many quick stops for navigation checks. It was beautiful once again.

It was a quiet run and I only saw a few people up and about.

Ride:

Great temperature for riding, and full sun. It was very windy.

We went up the East side trail in Bruges (again) and then up to De Haan on the North Sea. We had lunch there and returned on a more westerly route, enjoying a huge tailwind.

This was a lovely day and a great last Belgian ride, returning at 3pm.

I went to get a picture of this tram as it was pulling away. The driver saw me and stopped it for me. You can see him waving 😀

Evening:

Christine, Debbie, Lisa and and I headed to town right away after our ride. Christine wanted a “real Belgian beer” instead of the ship’s offerings!  We finally bought some Belgian chocolates, and snacked on a few on the way back for dinner.

Another delightful meal today, with a special baked ice cream cake dessert.

There were some send-off speeches with the guides and boat crew that were nice. We avoided the sing along after:/

Our favourite tour guide Joan (pronounced “Yo-Ann” more or less)

Tomorrow we leave our little floating home and bus back to the Amsterdam area for a night.
