In Pont-en-Royans

Climbing the stairs in the hotel after dinner last night (there is a lift but our room is only two flights up from the restaurant) was painful. Not my legs, but where my collarbones meet the sternum. And, having felt fine throughout the ride and dinner, I was now absolutely exhausted.

My energy level was still incredibly low at breakfast this morning, so I decided to properly rest. I spent most of the day in our room, leaving only when the housekeeping staff arrived to do their service.

Al rode the route I’d planned and his account is on Strava:  https://strava.app.link/vnwhpVhKGTb

After he got back and cleaned up, we went looking for a snack, neither of us wanting lunch (and it was after 2 on a Sunday so lunch wouldn’t have been possible anyway), just something to tide us over until dinner with the CB group.  We ended up getting a takeaway pizza and carrying it down to the riverside park. I’d been there around noon when I’d vacated the room for the housekeepers and the park had been jammed with families on this sunny Sunday. It was still busy but we found an empty table in the shade to enjoy our pizza and cold drinks and being in this beautiful place.

We joined the group for dinner on the outside terrace of the hotel restaurant (our first outdoor dinner on this trip!)  We had hoped to try a different place just for variety, but there aren’t many choices in Pont-en-Royans on a Sunday in May. The restaurant Al and I ate at our first night is closed on Sundays so we’ll try it tomorrow and the other has a “complet” sign out. This little village has been busy with visitors all day. We are hoping they all go home tonight.
