St Johnsville to Utica
Today’s ride to Utica was pleasant. The trail was shady in the morning and quiet all day.

Soon, however, the temperatures climbed. I met a cyclist named Frank who was riding the other direction. We discussed the heat and he told me that 1.8 miles ahead the Fort Herkimer Church had a water stop for cyclists. I was so relieved to hear that.
I drank a couple bottles of water, refilled my bike bottle, and signed their poster thanking them!
We have traded rainy nights camping for hot days cycling. I’m not quite sure which is better or worse.
I had already booked lodging for tonight and tomorrow night. Here is the forecast showing tropical storm Henri. Our location is at the black dot. We aren’t really experiencing any wind or rain so far.
Today we passed the 500-mile point in the trip!

No rain last night, but boy howdy it was a humid night. We left St. Johnsville Marina (aka do you like train noise all night?)
and got on the Erie Canal Trail at a reasonable hour.
Lots of different surfaces today #4 gravel, asphalt, single track, dirt and canopy lined stone dust.

Google Maps and Erie Canal trail don't always link up together. Sometimes they are like 2 twin toddlers pulling you in different directions.
All in all. We made it thru another adventure filled day. Ended our day at the Best Western. Tomorrow is a side trip to Cooperstown!
