The day was quite hot and I was extra thirsty for something besides water. Stopped at a little market and didn’t see anything with electrolytes such as Gatorade. The girl at the store recommended this one, which turned out to be so delicious. Am hoping to find it again.

A refreshing beverage

John ScanlanKimsan,
I've never heard of it. For breakfast when I bike tour, I mix Gatorade and Mountain Dew. . . . a perfect mix of electrolytes, caffeine, and sugar.

Richmond has this 16-sided Round Church building. It has an interesting history. Built in 1812-1814 by 18 men over 922 days. It has also been used for community meetings.

John ScanlanKimsan,
922 days??? That's about three years!!! But then again, in 1812, they didn't have power saws and drills. My hat is off to those 18 guys.

In the winter they set up a beautiful lighted tree and put lights in all the windows.

John ScanlanKimsan,
So in a round church, is the altar in the center? Or is it along one of the sides?

Rose's perspective:

Kim and I had breakfast at The Social at the Montpelier Inn. So delicious and a great add on with the room.

Steak, eggs, bacon and Dutch babies for me. Spinach and artichoke quiche for Kim!

Fancy water! Our waitress also filled our water bottles and camelbak with ice water. So very much appreciated! The Social at the Montpelier Inn.

Vibrant Echinacea, fragrant Lavender, Camelbak bottle filled with ice water and Arbonne TruSport Workout fuel are my go to supplements for touring.

We rolled out about 11ish. Had some pavement and compact dirt variations in todays Across Vermont trail. Always happy to get back on the pavement since we do not have gravel or mountain bikes. The holes and cracks in the road will end your tour and quite possibly your adventurous life if you hit one.

We came into the town of Middlesex and we both stopped at different places but met at a bakery in Camp Meade. A cyclist approached me asking questions about my tour.  He and his wife have toured. We all ended up at a table with talking Warmshowers community and touring .  Later on back on the trail, we came across a sign saying Road Closed. Hmm. We pressed forward. Miles later 2 cyclists approached the opposite direction and we stopped them to ask what was up. The town of Bolton was repairing a culvert crossing the entire roadway. Crossable but deep. We came up to the next road closed sign now with cones and crossed over. A mile or so we hit the construction zone. The crew was nice and must have had 6-7 cyclists crossing their construction site that day already. I helped Kim handle her bike through the ditch, then went back to get mine. I didn't want to take off the 4 panniers of gear/food so I asked the burly big guy for some help. He had the front and I had the back. When it was all said and done he mentioned I needed a motor the bike because it was so heavy. I laughed and pointed to my legs and said I have 2 of them.🤣😁👍

After some site seeing and a grocery stop, we arrived at our WS hosts house in Richmond. Grabbed showers and set up our tents as the rain set in. Tomorrow, Burlington REI and we are pushing our stays back a day due to impending rain tomorrow. Great ride today just a huge eye opener to the road conditions in Vermont.

Today's ride: 29 miles (47 km)
Total: 310 miles (499 km)
