The golf course to Hirono
The pricing for hotels on Booking.com, Trip.com, and Agoda is sometimes hard to comprehend. The price for the very ordinary Nomad Hotel was $15 Can. more than what we paid at the Golf and country club and this hotel included a lavish breakfast buffet . We can usually get a good deal if we use more than one online booking platform. Saturdays are another story with consistently high prices.

Ron SeguinI don’t think you meant to leave the “m” and “n” out of man hole cover, unless you were having a really bad day. Bad autocorrect😀

Steve Miller/GrampiesDodie here. Hey Mary Ellen, where did you get your 3/4 shorts? I have been looking for some for ages with no success.

Barry BartlettHi Dodie
My shorts are from a BC company, based in Squamish, called 7 Mesh. The model both Barry and I have is called Glidepath. We like them so much that we also have the slacks….on a trip this is all we bring…one of each. They are lightweight and cool to wear in heat, hand wash and dry fast, fit generously on the leg and hips (a plus for me) and provide good coverage. The founders of 7Mesh used to be part of Arc’teryx but parted ways when Arc’teryx went in a different direction and 7Mesh specializes in bike friendly apparel.
I got so tired of other shorts showing considerable fading and wear after one 3 month trip…so far so good.
There is some sticker shock though…shorts are $170 and pants are $195. I was able to get them both on sale…shorts at Oak Bay Bikes and pants at MEC. Another option is to sign up on their website and you get 15% off.
A bit of trivia…the name 7Mesh is the First Nations name for Squamish.
Sorry to go on, but I do like them. I wear an XL women’s size.
