Shizuoka Country Hamaoka Course and Hotel

Being tired from our ride yesterday, we slept well. Booking for 2 nights gives us a sense of being on holiday and we are looking forward to a simple day of storm watching, reading and enjoying where we are.

This is not the usual sight we see when we check in to a hotel. This grand entrance is a tribute to an earlier time when hotels like this were built on a grand scale. Usually, most people who stay here are golfers, but with web hotel sites like booking.com including this hotel, people like us can stay here at a reduced price.

And here it is…the rain is pummelling down and the wind makes it even more dramatic.

We have two small balconies like this. It is amazing to watch this and know that we don’t have to ride in it.

One of the floors of the hotel is an art gallery. The current show is featuring the work of a Japanese artist, Tomoko Yokoi.. We loved his work.

We loved this painting, but it would be hard to carry on our trikes.

What an enjoyable way to spend time on a day when riding or touring is out of the question. We both enjoy art galleries and this artist does beautiful work.

This ramp is a conveyor belt which transports golf bag up, but not down.

Getting some fresh air while there is a break in the storm.

The storm has left us with beautiful cloud formations and a different quality of light.

Barry and I aren’t golfers, but we have enjoyed the beauty of this golf course. The surrounding grounds are are lovely. One more night here and we will be off tomorrow morning, riding along the Pacific coast Cycling Road.
