Day 9: Columbia River to Othello

The day started with an amazing view of the Columbia River from the Beverly Bridge.  Today was hot and the rail trails unridable with sand on the east side of  the bridge so we took to the roads. Many of the roads weren’t much better than the trails with a rough  unpacked layer. We had our second dog incident this morning due to an irresponsible dog walker. Four small dogs out for a walk, but the human walker made no effort to stop the dogs. Scott fended one of with his shoe. We were in the middle of nowhere today along salt licks and a winding creek, so we took lunch at a place that had some rocks to sit on near the road. We arrived early in the town of Othello, so we took shelter from the sun and heat inside where they happened to serve cold beer. After setting up camp at the local fairgrounds and a quick shower we headed to town for some outstanding BBQ at Classic Grill’n.  We highly recommend it.

Tri Tip special and a Q-master Manwich with brisket
