Day 44: Lincoln to Omaha
Today we started with a breakfast at our Warmshowers host and headed out through downtown Lincoln. We were on bike paths and then the MoPac rail trail as we made our way out of town. After 25 miles, we transitioned to a ‘missing section’ on farm roads that were very rough. Recently re-surfaced with large gravel it was as rough as trails in eastern WA. We crossed the Platte River on the nice, recently renovated rail bridge and stopped for lunch at a bench alongside it. Much water was consumed today as it was sunny, hot and very humid.heat index was > 110 F. We arrived at our hotel within a minute of Scott M’s wife arriving. After checking in and cooling down a shower, we headed out for beer, burgers and more beer.
