Day 42: Norfolk to Schuyler
Talk about humid, holy smokes. The tent was like a sweat box last night, but both of us finally got some decent sleep. Although it was overcast the entire morning, it remained very humid and we were biking thru a cloud. . We were on the roads all day, but the shoulders were rough, bumpy and dirty unlike in Wyoming. Heading south by, we had a heading tonight through…again. Most of the scenery today was corn, corn and more corn fields. The hills ran east-west, so we were going up and down the rolling hills. There was a sprinkling of hay and soy beans here and there with one large cattle yard. We stopped for an early lunch in Platte Center and biked backroads by Lake Babcock thru residential neighborhoods. We arrived in downtown Columbus in the early afternoon. Of course we were thirsty, so we grabbed a beer at Gottberg Brewpub. From there, we made at stop at Runza - Nebraska’s version of a pierogi in a bun. We still had 13 miles to our campsite in Schuyler, so we headed down the road, and Scott M started a badger near the road, but he did not go after Scott G.
Today's ride: 63 miles (101 km)
Total: 2,152 miles (3,463 km)
