Day 34: Douglas to Harrison

Today we broke camp early for a longer day, and road to the local grocery store in Douglas to resupply. We grabbed a quick sandwich at Starbucks in the store, packed up the groceries and were on our way. Again, lots of prairie punctuated with rock outcroppings and wide open scenery.  It was hot, 93F in the shade.   Heading towards Douglas, we paralleled the Union Pacific railroad with trains of 100 cars loaded with coal. We did take a few breaks to get some shade from from the heat; one at the 3 Sisters for rhubarb/strawberry pie and ice cream - delicious. We did cross into Nebraska today after an interesting set of rock outcroppings at Van Tassell and arrived at the Harrison city park campsite. We walked into town for dinner at the Longhorn Saloon & Grill. Had a good meal and met some of the locals just back from a rodeo event.
