Day 17: Alberton to Missoula
This morning we had breakfast in camp. With the long ride yesterday, today was designed to be a half day to Missoula slowly climbing along the Clark Fork. Most of the time we were on roads with a short stint on the Interstate and a few bike paths near the towns of Frenchtown and Missoula. The valley widened considerably to fields and ranches. Once in Missoula, we had burgers at Wally & Buck (see burger review), stopped at an outfitters store to avoid our first thunderstorm , a downpour of rain and hail, and spent some time with the folks at the headquarters of Adventure Cycling Association. This nonprofit maps cycling routes all over the US, and helped map the connectors to the rail trails. We had our pictures taken for the visiting cyclists board, filled out a document to be entered into their official registry, got the bikes weighed (both at roughly 91 lbs), had some ice cream, and got to speak with one of the founding members, Greg Siple. Dinner was provided by our Warmshowers host. It was a fabulous pasta dish with sautéed zucchini & onions, garlic bread, and salad - thanks Tom & Saylor
Today's ride: 38 miles (61 km)
Total: 794 miles (1,278 km)
