Day 15: Wallace to Haugan
A ride on 3 railtrails. Today, Scott M’s wife drove back to Seattle as we rode on with maximum gear in our bags. The additional weight was noticeable as we started with a 2000 foot climb in the morning on the Trail of the Couer d’Alenes. . Starting out of Wallace, the trail was partially paved and then transitioned to a dirt/gravel mixture when we transitioned onto the NorPac trail in Mullan, ID.. We took lunch at a trailhead along the way and also took a break at a local ski resort at Lookour Pass (crest of the Bitterroot Mtbs) heading into Montana.. Once again, the scenery was beautiful and several deer were spotted along the way. We then moved onto the Route of the Olympian for the long downhill. Arriving at our destination in Haugan, we stopped at the local casino for some beer. Known for their collection of sliver dollars, most of the 87,000 are displayed in the bar. Tonight we cooked at our Airb&b - BBQ Korean Spam and spicy ramen noodles. It was actually really good.
