Day 14: Wallace Rest Day

Today we slept in and enjoyed a slow start to the morning. Scott M. attended to some work calls with his laptop in hand, while his wife and I walked in downtown Wallace, window shopping and procuring food supplies for the days ahead. Although it was officially a rest day, we met up with Brendan and Kim  (Scott M’s friends from Spokane) and biked the Rour of the Hiawatha railtrail. The Milwaukee Road route thru the Bitterroots features beautiful tree covered mountains, numerous tunnels and multiple high train trestles. Shortly after starting, we encountered a heavy rain and a bit of hail. Completely soaked, we made our way to the bottom of the trail and as the weather improved, the sun provided a welcomed warmth to all. Upon completing the ride, we drove back to Wallace for dinner at a local restaurant. Fun day!!

Dan DominTerry and I just added this to our bucket list. Sounds like a great trail (especially the downhill part) with great scenery. Somehow we’ve missed Idaho in all our travels so far. You guys are making good progress. Keep it up. Thanks for posting! Reading the updates is part of my morning coffee routine now. Prost!
