Day 9: Buckhorn Bar Campground to McCall

Im going to keep this entry short because I'm tired and forgot to write before heading to bed.

Skies were blue and the air crisp and dry as we slowly woke up this morning. We made breakfast and packed up camp before embarking on another long climb, this time over Lick Creek Pass.

The drop out of camp to the base of the climb.

Bike looking as good as ever this morning.

The climb turned out to be delightful, despite being over 3,000 feet. Alpine scenery greeted us as we wound ever upward, eventually reaching snow in the final few yards to the summit.

Once at the summit, we had a brief lunch before heading down into McCall. The ride was particularly rocky, so we took our time and carefully rode into town. I made the executive decision to get a hotel room for the night since I was feeling particularly battered. Caleb has largely been spared from the mosquitoes, while I on the other hand have nearly 30 bites all over my body. This, in addition to a bunch of small blisters forming on my ankles and feet, likely from walking through poison oak or some other irritating plant.

We chose to stay at the "Rustic Inn" which makes me chuckle. Any place with a shower, bed, and air conditioning is far from rustic in my book!

Today's ride: 42 miles (68 km)
Total: 400 miles (644 km)
