I'm at a loss for words.  We're burdened by a sense of letting others down.  The Great American Hive Ride will not happen.  The trail was in poor condition from the relentless rain.  Janice hit a patch of mud 6" or more deep that ran all across the trail and 20+ feet long and fell again.  No serious injury but time has run out on us.  The delays we encountered will put us in the wide open spaces of the plains with little or no shade when summer temps peak.  The current C&O Trail conditions defeated us physically, mentally and emotionally.   We surrender,  at least for this year.
