With the weight of us all off the ship it was able to continue on to Kalocsa. Here we ranted up to another ship which was firmly grounded in the silt, we certainly could go no further.  For those of us who were to disembark at Budapest it really wasn't too much of a problem just a two and a half hour bus ride to our hotel in Budapest.  This was great we went to an amazing horse farm where we saw the beautiful Lippizaner Horses, rode in a horse and cart, had a spectacular horse show reminding me of Attila the Hun and then an authentic Hungarian meal.  Things are a bit different for those continuing to Amsterdam.  The Danube is now closed all the way to Regensburg which means they are doing some significant bus rides.

Now in Budapest we are having to begin to think for ourselves which after the pampering we have been having may be difficult.  We will stay another night in this lovely city - then on to Vienna and on Monday go to Hamburg, it is when we reach here the adventure really starts and the first thing we need to do is buy bikes.

Jack WatsonFascinating photographs. The lady riding side saddle reminded me of photos of my grandmother. I donated her saddle to the Waiheke Museum.
