Villebois

Last night I had what is probably the most delicious salad I have ever had. It had magret de canard and fois grois . The magret de canard were warm and a bit crunchy, I really didn't ever want to stop eating it! It was a bit lucky as I think we will be in luck if we have anything for dinner tonight - I will explain later.

It was another glorious day as we set off and we were soon once more on well signed smooth cycle tracks, There was nobody about, then we went over a bridge and there were no signs at all and certainly no cycle track, however the way on seemed fairly obvious. The traffic wasn't too bad, the trucks in particular are very considerate of bikes. We came to a big 4 star camping ground and in we pulled to sit on their comfortable seats and drink coffee. I just love watching French families on holiday particularly those camping. Often they are multigenerational and they always seem to be having such fun. Bikes seem to be part of the experience and most of the camping cars have bikes attached to them. In fact it is a very good indicator as to how far you are from a holiday destination because as you ride along first you see groups of cyclists idly riding along then as you get much closer there are the groups of walkers. Luckily the camping ground had a shop and Ken was able to buy a baguette or we would have been without lunch as well,

Our booking was at Villebois and the hotel when we found it is a rather magnificent old chateau in the countryside. First problem we arrived at 1.30pm and check in not till 5pm! We settled down under some trees and waited...... Madam arrived and we checked in. Second problem the restaurant is closed tonight as are all the ones in the vicinity because it is 'holidays' the nearest that 'may be' open is about 7km away and the nearest small shop that 'perhaps' will be open 9km away. However the room is lovely we have a cake and a half of chocolate, 2apricots, a small piece of cheese and there was a small lollie on each of our pillows and the taps have plenty of water. The good news is the breakfast is served at 7.30am

We took our key with us, Then we found a Poste. Ken had a great time trying to send it back, ended up having to buy a massive box to send it in
