If I am being honest, I was not the best company on the car ride home from Buffalo, WY to Lafayette, CO. I was sulking most of the time except when I had a white-knuckle grip on the steering wheel during the biblical rainstorms. Mrs G was a good sport...at least one of us had to be.

On Wednesday when I was getting ready for a road bike ride, I looked over at Pea Soup Green ("PSG") and he winked at me...really he did. And like an old Star Trek episode, he did a Vulcan mind meld and said, "How about if we drive to Minneapolis, MN and restart the ride there? We could rent a car and drop it off at the Minneapolis St Paul airport and jump right back onto the route that you had already planned." Dang PSG is a smart one! All that was left to do was get Mrs G's blessing, which we got once she reviewed the route and the available services.

So on Friday the 27th, me and PSG are heading for Minneapolis, MN in a rented SUV.  And 11 days later after having ridden a bit in Minnesota, through Wisconsin, across the Michigan Upper Penninsula, and taken two ferry rides, we will meet up with Mrs G, Tom, and Melanie in Traverse City, MI.

I know what you're thinking...Ian is such a brat. No argument here, but seriously do you blame me for wanting to get back out on the road, see some places I haven't seen before, meet some cool people, and get to sleep in my tent.

Here's to the 4th of July in Escanaba, MI. Sure hope they have a good celebration planned.
