It's the Final Countdown
Today is my final pre-ride journal entry and there is just so much to talk about. As I previously shared, we stayed in DuBois last night, mainly so I could have a Cowboy Cafe chocolate chip pancake. Yes the pancake (trust me one is enough) was every bit as good as I remembered...and yes I have a picture to share with you. With full stomachs we headed off to the Tetons and Jenny Lake. If you don't think we live in a beautiful country, then you need to consider driving the route we took today.
Props to "The Ladies". Jenny Lake and the Tetons, and then a two hour drive up to and through Yellowstone, was a perfect way to ease into my ride. And it was great to share all of that with Mrs G.
When traveling through those areas, you just never know who you are going to meet and what stories you will come away with.
So, I'd like to introduce you all to and share photos of LeBrown James and his cousin Blackey. We met LeBrown on the Jenny Lake trail and Blackey in Yellowstone. Both seemed friendly enough but it was clear they weren't all that impressed with us. Oh well...but we did get their permission to include pictures of them in my journal.
Wrapping up the night, the kind front desk lady at the Grey Wolf Lodge in West Yellowstone gave me some last minute ride advice. She shared that I needed to be careful riding through Yellowstone because the antelopes were calving , the Molly pack of 20 wolves had just finished eating an antelope and would be on the hunt for their next meal, and there are some grizzly bears (3 to be exact and one is the mama bear) along the route I am going to be riding tomorrow. Not sure if I'm glad I know this or wish that I didn't. All I can say is Pray for Me!
Ok then, tomorrow the real ride posts begin. That is assuming I don't meet any wolves or bears or rabid tourists who think their time is more valuable than my life.
