We're staying in Marathon TX for 2 nights (layover day). Here's our campsite at the RV park. Because of the dark skies (with no light pollution), we could see more stars than usual. A local amateur astronomer set up telescopes for our use and talked about what we were seeing, including "Zodiacal light" to the west.

About 12 of our riders opted to be shuttled by Timberline (about 2 hours each way) to Big Bend National Park for sightseeing during the layover day. The rest (including me) opted to stay in Marathon. Of course, I'll ride at least 10 miles anyway to see the town and nearby area.
