Fred (real name Beth) is 60 and lives in Madison WI.  She is not married and has no children. She enjoys spending time with her 6 nieces and 1 nephew (children of her brother and sister, who live in the Chicago area). She retired in 2020 after working 20 years for American Transmission Company. 

Fred is a mountaineer, having climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Aconcagua (each the highest mountain in Africa and South America, respectively).

Fred has participated in several supported bike rides, such as RAGBRAI in Iowa, a WI northwoods tour, a MI shoreline tour, and GRABAAWR (Great Annual Bicycling Adventure Along the Wisconsin River). This is her first cross-country ride. She met Bubba on a GRABAAWR ride in 2002 and he tried to sell her on the idea of his cross-country tour, but she didn't have the time to do it until this year, after retirement. 

She rides a Litespeed bike.
