Franklinton LA, where we're staying tonight, is an attractive small town that hosts, in October each year, the Washington Parish Free Fair, said to be the largest free fair in the U.S.

The book and movie "Dead Man Walking" were based on the convictions of 2 men for the murder of a woman in Bogue Chitto State Park, just south of here. The park's name is from the Choctaw words for big creek.
