This morning, we rode in beautiful weather past fields of crops irrigated by water from the nearby Rio Grande River.  The mountains on the other side of the river are in Mexico.

As the day progressed, the winds from the west increased significantly and gusted to 40 mph. They helped us quickly reach our destination of Van Horn TX, but prevented the set-up of tents at the RV park.  So the Timberline staff scrambled and found rooms for all of us, spread among 3 hotels.
