West Branch to Moline

Goodbye Iowa

Friday the 13th but it was a good one for us! Our last day of riding in Iowa. We're ready for the next state. And it was fun to cross the Mississippi River again. We've done it on bike trips (Northern and Southern Tier, St.Paul to Boston, and today) And we've done it in New Orleans too. Quite the river!

There were no trails today; just a LONG stretch - 29 miles on a county road with shoulders that had rumble strips covering half the shoulder. It required some extra concentration and we were glad to move on to some other roads when it was done.

The last twenty miles was 21 cues - quite complex. But we made it over the river to Moline in Illinois where we stayed at a fancy Radisson for two nights. May 14 was a day off from riding.

I love it when my shadow is straight out from me. Here you can tell I am riding north with the east on my right hand side. The sun is casting a shadow towards the west.
