3 days in the Angkor Archaeological Park

If you have been to Angkor before don´t ride up to the former ticketing facilities anymore, that´s only a checkpoint nowadays. You have to purchase them beforehand at the Angkor Enterprise booth which you will find on google maps. Three ticket options: 1 day - 37 US$; 3 days (valid over 7 days) - 62 $; 7 days (valid one month) - 72 $

It´s steep up and down Ta Kaeo. People do actually get stuck on the top as they are scared to fall down those extremely demanding stairs

Steve Miller/GrampiesThese steps are the same steepness as the ones we encountered at the Mayan ruins at Coba. Probably from the same era also. Grampies

Frank RoettgenTo Steve Miller/GrampiesThat's a tester, Steve! I have never been to the part of the world you are talking about but I assume you were pulling your hats as much as Jan and I did about the incredible effort it was to build something giant like that almost 1000 years ago. Frank

28 Jan - Banteay Srei, Pre Roup

You may remember I had planned to visit Banteay Srei on my way in from Anlong Veng but they do not sell tickets on this northernmost temple. It´s actually more than 40 km one way from Jan´s guesthouse so we decided to get a lift up there in the morning and then cycle back through the park. Clear advantage to the folding bike!

The details are breathtaking!

Mind you those carvings were done in the 12 / 13th century

The temple would be so nice.......If only the Korean tour groups wouldn´t turn it into Disneyland

Leo van NoortHi Frank, busy with a small cinema about Angkor ! It's amazing place eh !
Would you like to receive it, when finish ? With mysterious music. It takes 9 minutes.
I am in Golden Mango Inn, at highway 6, behind the Smiling Hotel.
Tomorrow cycling again through Angkor. Thursday leave to Thai border Aranyaprathet. Good luck !

Frank RoettgenTo Leo van NoortWhat a shame, Leo! I was really busy over the last few days and haven't checked my guestbook. We just missed each other! I left Siem Reap yesterday and am on my way to the Vietnamese border. And Yes, I would love to watch your video. Is it a YouTube link? Otherwise: email_at_thightseeing_dot_org
Safe onward travels! Frank
