Rewiring in Marathon
Woke early because I went to bed early. Both bad habits! Spent the morning updating the blog, reading, and moving camp! To get two days in the campground, I had to make two solo day reservations, which meant a site change (and, yes, I asked on check-in, but they couldn't accommodate me).
It was actually a pretty easy move. Just repacked the panniers (and that was minimal since I had never even removed them from the bike) and pushed the bike over to the new site. The tent was also easy. Just pulled the stakes and folded it, the air mattress, and sleeping bag over once and walked it over as well. Done. Except for restaking. The new site was decent and oceanside, but rockier, so placing stakes was real tough. We'll survive one night, I'm sure, especially with me in it!
Then I had a small crisis where I could not find my eyeglasses! Nothing serious, as they are only readers, but I was counting on spending time reading today. So after looking everywhere and retracing my steps, I realized I had sat at the picnic table for a short while waiting for my phone to charge, and sure enough, there they were, atop the grass. OK, crisis averted, so off to lunch.
And that meant back to the Sunset Bar and Grille, where I grabbed a table poolside. I really had no other plans and hung out there most of the afternoon, admiring the bridge I will cross tomorrow and eventually succumbing to more serious liquid entertainment than the pool.

Afterward, it was back to the campground and a visit to their "beachfront" tiki bar to watch the sunset. The last one I will see from Knight's Key Campground.

Unfortunately, they are redeveloping the site into a condo-resort of some sort, which I'm sure will be popular with the well-heeled. But it was a good location for touring cyclists; many of the campgrounds are in "food deserts," so my next trip through here may be hotel/motel-based.
For dinner I ventured the opposite direction and hiked a mile (more or less) to the Seven Mile Grill. It had great reviews, and I have to agree. Just wish I had gotten two skewers with the kabob instead of one. So I was still hungry and decided to try a piece of Key lime pie. Excellent!
