Arlington to Jacksonville: Florida Rewired, Part Two
Yesterday had looked promising. DCA was starting to get back to normal operations, and our 2:00 o'clock flight was still in "go" mode. So at 9:00 AM I called the cab company, and they picked up on one ring. That amazed me. I ordered a cab for 10:30 and was at the airport by 11:00! So far, so good!
Happy was not far behind. He had the boarding passes and had to check his bike. My two panniers would be my only luggage, and I would carry them on. So before long:
I was leaving this behind (our poor gazebo, buried in the storm).
We took the SuperShuttle to the hotel at the beach. That took almost as long as the flight. About 1-1/2 hours. But we were there before 6:00, which gave Happy some time to unpack and assemble his bike. All was good (but the final proof will come in the morning). Next stop, dinner with Paul Free. The Irish pub was closed, so we opted for The Fish Company, which proved to be an excellent choice!
Back in Florida means back to seafood. Oysters on the half-shell, followed by a bowl of gumbo and grilled fillet of cobia.
